Fishing & Stalking

Embracing the wild

Fishing

Recreational angling is culturally ingrained in Assynt. As well as salmon rivers set in spectacular scenery, our 300 freshwater lochs make Assynt a wild brown trout fishing mecca.

Salmon and sea trout, River Inver and River Kirkaig

Inver lodge Hotel is ideally situated to take advantage of what salmon fishing in Assynt has to offer.  The season runs from 11th February to the 15th October.  Bookings can be for one day or longer depending on availability.  A ghillie can also be arranged to accompany and advise depending on availability.

Permits, gear and further information are available from Sporting Lets: https://www.sportinglets.co.uk

River Inver – Approximately 6 miles, split into 5 double bank beats.  The Inver is our most accessible river and fish usually enter the system in April with catches building throughout the season.

The River Kirkaig – Approximately 3 miles long, split into 3 beats.  A typical untamed highland spate river,  The River Kirkaig flows through a gorge headed by the Kirkaig falls.  The Top and middle beats are not for the faint hearted and do require some scrabbling.

Available for free to hotel guests!

The Inver lodge Hotel also has boats on 3 local lochs. Loch Awe, School loch and the Glen Loch.  These lochs are fly only, hold a good stock of wild hard fighting trout.  There is also a chance of a sea trout or salmon.  Keys are available from the hotel.
